LIONS - AUSTIN, TX BAND (MID 2000s)
Lions was my band in Austin, TX in the mid 2000s. There’s a Wikipedia page linked that someone made for us a long time ago if you’re wanting to take a deep dive.
Most of the videos below were captured by fans. Some better quality than others, but none like the videos of NOW.
We were in Guitar Hero 3 after the music supervisor for Activision, Brandyn Young, saw us at a SXSW show and asked us if we’d like to be included. We were once courted by Roadrunner Records, but that romance died once they heard that we weren’t going to listen. Rumor had it, we were once going to sign to Columbia Records (the “pen in hand” A&R guy we met earlier in NYC forgot to show up at Emo’s). That A&R guy went on to form a record label called Mom and Pop. We helped soundtrack a lot of “Sons of Anarchy - Season 1” after we met Ward Hake at one of our “floor” shows and he connected us with Kurt and Bob Thiele. We covered Bob Dylan’s “Girl From The North Country” for Season 2 premiere. I went to the premiere at Paramount and managed to get kicked out of the Whaler in Venice six hours later. Those were the days!
We would consider getting back together and playing a show for a lot of money, but we most likely won’t play the Bob Dylan song.
